Medical centre cleaning is the after-hours clean of a practice's waiting, consulting, treatment and staff areas, done to a written scope with separate equipment for clinical rooms so that what is used in a bathroom or waiting room never reaches a treatment bench.

How We Set Up Cleaning for a Sydney Practice

This page is written for the practice manager who has to brief a cleaner. The work that matters happens before the first clean: agreeing which rooms are clinical, what the cleaner is responsible for versus what your nurses do between patients, and when the building is empty enough to clean properly.

1. Walkthrough

We walk the practice with you, room by room. We note floor types (vinyl in treatment rooms, carpet in admin), where clinical waste and sharps bins sit, which rooms hold equipment cleaners should not touch, and where the alarm, keys and cleaning store are.

2. Written scope by zone

The scope splits the practice into zones — public, clinical, amenities and staff — with a task list and frequency for each. Your infection-control policy is attached if you have one, so the cleaner follows the same rules your staff do.

3. Fixed price and start

You get a fixed price in writing for that scope. Agreements are month to month with no lock-in, so the arrangement only continues while the practice is happy with the work.

What Drives the Cost of Medical Centre Cleaning?

We do not publish a price list, because two practices of the same size can need very different scopes. These are the factors that set the price.

FactorWhy it matters
Number of consulting and treatment roomsClinical rooms take longer than admin space because of the disinfection steps and equipment changes.
Visits per weekA practice open six days needs more visits than one open three.
Floor typesVinyl is mopped with disinfectant; carpet in admin areas needs vacuuming and periodic extraction.
Periodic tasksHigh dusting, vents and machine scrubbing are priced at the frequency you choose.
Access windowA short window between the last patient and the alarm time may need a larger crew.

After the free site walkthrough you receive a fixed price in writing for the agreed scope.

Frequently Asked Questions — Medical Centre Cleaning

What does medical centre cleaning involve?

It is a scheduled clean of reception, waiting, consulting, treatment, bathroom and staff areas, worked zone by zone with separate colour-coded cloths and mops so clinical rooms are never cleaned with equipment from public areas. High-touch surfaces are disinfected with products suitable for clinical areas, applied at the contact time on the label.

How often should a medical centre be cleaned?

Most practices that open five or six days a week book a clean after every trading day, because consulting and treatment rooms are used by many patients. Periodic tasks such as high dusting, vents and hard-floor machine scrubbing are added to the scope at a frequency agreed during the walkthrough. Between-patient wipes remain the responsibility of clinical staff.

Are your cleaners trained for clinical areas?

Cleaners assigned to medical sites are police-checked and insured, and are briefed on the practice's own infection-control procedures before the first shift: which rooms are clinical, which equipment goes where, how to handle a sharps or spill situation (we report it to your staff rather than touching sharps) and what must not be moved.

Do you clean outside business hours?

Yes. Medical centre cleaning is normally done after the last appointment or before the first one, so cleaners are not working around patients. The time window is written into the scope.

What disinfectants do you use in medical centres?

We use disinfectants suitable for clinical areas and apply them at the contact time on the label. If your practice already specifies a product in its infection-control policy, we can use that product instead so your documentation stays consistent.

Do you clean specialist and allied health clinics?

Yes. Along with GP practices we clean specialist rooms, allied health and physiotherapy clinics, dental practices and pathology collection rooms. The scope for each is written after we have walked the site.
